This is a trip for those who want a circuitous ride high high on tip and then again low low to the bottom, want to see how road blocks due to landslide and many eye-catching natural beauty.
We started this on a fine Sunday in the month of September, there is no good or bad season only thing is that the weather should be fine that means no heavy rainfall some time back, we ensured this by calling one of our friend in Tehri. We started late by 9 am after a heavy and delicious Chhole Bhature at Bikaneri, a famous sweet shop at Ranipur Hardiwar. My Yamaha fz was also full tank, i was driving while Naveen sitting back with a handy bag.
We took the Chila route till Rishikesh as i love this road to ride fast on the bank of Ganga canal. When we were crossing the jungle toward Chila Hydro power station, we saw a herd of Deer crossing road, we stopped for a while and took some snaps but within no time they run into the jungle. While i was accelerating at 85-90 kmph, Naveen on the back was experimenting with his camera shutter open.

We took right at the barrage near Rishikesh this is the hill on the other side of Ganga also a place for foot march to Nilkanth yatra. Here we found a place to see a picturesque view of Ramjhula and Lakxman Jhula from top. we took some snaps there and moved forward.

After crossing river Ganga on Laxman Jhula we reached the highway towards Narendra Nagar,
our journey on hill started from here it was a nice road left right full curvy our speed was 30-40 in turns where as 60 in straight roads. We stooped in Narendra nagar for a break and had some tea and refreshment at a tea shop. The Shop keeper shown us Jolly Grant Airport from his window. it was really a nice view.

Our next stop was Chamba. we were enjoying the ride as beautiful scenic view on either side was exciting our mood.

Near Chamba we reached a place which was really an eye-catching a natural scenic beauty it contains mountains, river , bridge , cattle , huts on the backdrop of bule sky with white clouds, which we really imagine while drawing a landscape in a canvas. we stopped for a while and took many photographs of it. We stopped some other places also to take photographs.
We reached New Tehri at 12.30 pm. We met our friend at Tehri and he took us to an amazing Apple orchid where he said that foreigners use to come and stay in tents specially made for them at some hefty charges, anyway it was really a beautiful place, then we had lunch at his house. After stomach full lunch we along with two more friends started towards the dam, it was another 30 km down the hill. We reached dam at 3 o’clock.
We were looking at the dam from a view-point at the top, since we didn’t have the pass therefore we could not got to the dam, and also we were already late to visit the place so we decided to just see from top. Our friends at Tehri shown us the place where old Tehri town was situated and which is now filled with dam water. Tehri dam is made at the confluence of river Bhagirathi from west and river Bhilangana from the east. The Tehri project started in 1978 but due to major environmentalist protest and other political issue it generated first power in 2006. the planned capacity of the dam is 2500 MW but currently only 1200 MW is generated. There are many stories of the protests of the project, and the seismic zone and design issues which our friend told to us. It is said that the dam can withstand the earthquake of 8.5 category. But it is also said in a study that earthquake of more that this can also come in this region. The water of Tehri dam is sufficient to flood Uttrakhand and parts of UP. Tehri dam has its own History of a king and his dynasty but now it is a marvel for India and a beautiful site to visit.
We started our return journey at 5:30 pm, it was little late as we wanted to cross the hills before sunset. We put our camera in the bag, laced our shoes tight, i put on the helmet, Naveen took out his ipod and adjusted the earphone and we moved down the hill. i was driving 55-60 down the hill it was little risky but we were enjoying and enthralling with many memories which we were carrying. at 7:00 we reached Narendra Nagar there we stooped for refreshment in the same tea shop and then next we stopped at our destination in Haridwar at 8:30 pm. The total kilometers covered was 270 km.

Thanks Ramesh. I am planning to visit New Tehri this weekend. Please update about the road conditions. Do’s and Donts etc. I will be travelling with my family in my personal car. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Sunny
the road was fairly in good conditions except at some few places, after Narendra Nagar we found mud road for 200 mtrs. At tehri do ask people for the correct route before moving ahead.
Hey there superb blog! Does running a blog similar to this take a great deal of
work? I’ve virtually no understanding of coding but
I was hoping to start my own blog in the near future.
Anyway, should you have any recommendations or techniques for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off subject nevertheless I simply wanted to ask.
Cheers!
