Shirdi

Shirdi is known for the Satya Sai baba’s Samadhi and temple. It is among the top religious place in world where thousands of devotees come every day from across the world. It is located in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.

History

Satya Sai baba was first seen in the form of 16 year old boy, sitting under a Margosa Tree. People used to sit around him and tell about their problem. It is also believed that the leaves of margosa tree (neem) is sweet in taste.

How to reach Shirdi

Nearest Railway station: Kopargaon (KPG)
Nearest Airport: Aurangabad(126 km), Pune (183 km), Mumbai(296 km)
From Kopargaon Railway station. To Shiridi: 20 km, Time taken 45 min.
Shared Autorickshaw fare: Rs. 25 per persons
While returning from shirdi be careful before booking an AutoRickshaw as Kopargaon and kopargaon Railway station. are different they are 5 km away.

USeful Tips for Shirdi

Accommodation: limited rooms are provided by the sai baba trust at lesser cost (Rs.100 to Rs. 500). Rooms are booked any time a day but are allowed to occupy only after 8 pm.

Hotels: Lots of hotels are available nearby the temple. Price ranges from (Rs 200 to 1000)
People are available to help you but bargain before going with them

Tea & snacks: Tea, coffee and other snacks are provided at cheaper rates by the trust
` 1.00 tea, ` 1.50 coffee, ` 8.00 bisleri (1 litre) etc.

Prasadalaya: there is common food area at a distance of 0.5 km from main temple. It has facility to feed 3000 people efficiently at a time. The prasadalaya is open from 10 am to 10 pm.

Kakkad Arti: Kakkad arti is performed at 4:00 am in morning. Early morning (6.00 am to 7.00 am) is free of rush and pooja can be performed in less than one hour. Those who are planning to visit shani sighnapur also can plan after darshan and return back by 4 pm in the evening.

Photography, mobile phones and sandals are strictly prohibited inside temple campus. Better to keep in hotel or place of stay.
