Hogenakkal falls



Hogenakkal is a district situated in green lush of Tamil Nadu bordering Karnataka. The place has many waterfalls in river cauvery. It is one of the nearest waterfalls from Bangalore city where huge rush is seen during weekends and holidays. People from Bangalore can plan one day trip to this place.

How to reach Hogenakkal:

Nearest Railway station: Bangalore (SBC), Chennai is far away as compared to Bangalore.
From Bangalore city To Hogenakkal: 190 km, Time taken 4 hrs.
One has to take Hosur Road State highway and then to NH 7, follow NH 7 up to Dharampuri-via-Shoolagiri-Krishnagiri. 140 km upto Dharampuri
From Dharampuri take right towards Hogenakkal another 45 km.
NH 7 is really excellent in terms of maintenance. One can reach Hogenakkal in 3 hrs also without stopping anywhere.

Andhra Karnataka Border tax: Rs. 30 (cars/LMV round trip)

Useful Tips for Hogenakkal:

People from Bangalore can plan a one day trip, start by morning 6:00 am take breakfast in Dharampuri (traditional Tamil Nadu taste South India food). Reach by 10 am. Visitors have to be in comfortable dresses take towels and other bathing cloths, use plastic/rubber slippers instead of shoes, also carry water bottles.

Food at Hogenakkal is mostly Non Veg that too purely traditional south Indian taste.

Fish is most common and to a good taste. People can enjoy fry fish curry any where inside waterfall area.

Various entry fees irritate the visitors, some are
Entry to hanging bridge; Rs. 5 per persons,
Crossing water through manmade bridge: Rs. 5 per person,

Other major expenses include:
Round Boat for 1hrs 30 min. trip: Rs. 150 per person in a boat (max. 6 persons)
Boat tip include rowing, traveling and bathing in river water. Boatman will be along the visitors for full trip.
Accommodations: Hotels are available in Hogenakkal one can stay.
Oil massage; Rs. 50-150 per person,

Fish fry: Rs. 15 per piece,
